Periodic Exercise and Psychological Well-Being among the Elderly Persons

Abstract

|
Objectives & Methods: In this study, including elderly persons who exercise periodically and elderly persons who exercise occasionally were analyzed in order to understand general characteristics, physical health condition, exercise self efficacy, decision making and balance on exercise, social support characteristics and to find factors which have effect on psychological well-being.
Result & Conclusion: The main results can be summarized as follows. First, it was discovered from this study that there was meaningful difference in psychological well-being between the participation and non-participation of the exercise. Second, psychological well-being was discovered to have the meaningful effect on family, friends and the meaningful other persons according of the participation or non-participation of the exercise of social support. Third, the participation of the exercise was discovered to have more positive role than non-participation of the exercise. Fourth, the benefit from the exercise was discovered to be effected by the control over the environment, the purpose of life and interpersonal relations in order, and loss of exercise was discovered to be effected by interpersonal relations and the purpose of life in order.
